Accessibility
Last updated: 3 October 2026
I want everyone to be able to use this site. It's deliberately playful, which can make accessibility harder, so here is where it stands honestly.
What works
- Pages use real headings, buttons, links and form labels, and the page language is set.
- The photo has a text description.
- Main text is dark on a light background, or light on dark, with strong contrast.
- The contact form works through your own email app, so you can use whatever tools you already rely on.
- Some animations are switched off for visitors who've asked their device for reduced motion.
Known problems
- Some of the playful interactions (squishing the letters, dragging sticky notes into the bin, dragging windows around) rely on a mouse or touch, and don't have a full keyboard equivalent.
- The home-page headline is made of animated, flashing letters. It can be distracting, and the flashing may be uncomfortable for people sensitive to it.
- Some small, grey label text has lower contrast than I'd like.
- The About and Contact pages scale themselves to fit the window. On very small screens or at high zoom, text can become small.
- Text in the work presentations is shown inside styled windows, and I haven't yet tested it with every screen reader.
I'm working through these, and I'd rather hear about the ones I've missed.
Tell me about a problem
If something on this site is hard to use, or you'd like any of the content in another format, email zcbarakat@gmail.com and I'll reply within a few working days and sort out a fix or an alternative.
Standard I'm aiming for
I'm aiming for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA. I haven't had the site independently audited, so I can't claim full compliance. The notes above are from my own checks.
